Full time Musician & Professional Girl Dad

Darrell Boger is a Northern Michigan-based multi-instrumentalist, performer, educator, and worship leader who believes music should actually mean something. He lives in Kalkaska with his wife Ashley, their two daughters Charlotte and Brexlee, and their dog Gibson—where life is equal parts chaos, laughter, and trying to keep everyone fed.

He started on trombone at 12, picked things up quickly, and never really slowed down. Over the years, that turned into fluency across a wide range of instruments—especially brass, woodwinds, and eventually guitar, which took over in high school. By graduation, he was already teaching and working his way into the local music scene.

After a stretch working in the medical lab world (where precision matters and mistakes actually matter), Darrell found his way back to music with a clearer sense of purpose—and hasn’t looked back.

With over 3,000 live performances across Michigan and the Midwest, he brings a real-world, no-nonsense approach to both performing and teaching. His sound blends Alt Country, Rock, and Soul, and his lessons focus on what actually works—not just what looks good on paper.

He currently serves as the staff worship leader at Kalkaska Church of Christ

Sundays at 9:00 AM & 10:30 AM

where the goal is simple: keep it honest, keep it grounded, and point people toward something bigger than themselves.

Darrell is also the co-founder and president of Music for the Masses, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on getting instruments and music education into the hands of students who might not otherwise have access.

He’s open about his journey with anxiety and bipolar disorder—not for sympathy, but because it’s real, and people need to know they’re not the only ones figuring it out.

Whether he’s on stage or sitting across from a student, the goal stays the same:
help people find their voice, build confidence, and make something that actually feels like them.

No fluff. Just real music.
